Description
"A Candle Snuffed" is one of 73 images I created for the book "Nailing Together Bits of Chaos: Jerry-Rigging a Life", poems by Donna Brua. The book is available for sale at my web site http://bitsofchaos.com/books.html
In the poem "Deadline", the poet asks what death may be like--"a gust of wind...or a wet finger and thumb fizz out you wick...

Deadline
I dont know whether death
is a line, like a deadline,
or some chasm you have to leap
when maybe you cant even get out of bed.
Does some pit swallow you
before you know whats happened
or a gust of wind blow you out
or a wet finger and
thumb fizz out your wick
or a switch flick off and everything
goes black after the flash
of your circuits shorting out,
your life replaying before you?
Its seen as an outside force
that says time is up, youve had enough.
Its not like eating
when you know youve had enough
or too much and you quit.
But not so living, they tell you.
You cant call it quits on living,
cant choose when to cross that line.
