"It's in the Grain" is one of 73 images I created for the book "Nailing Together Bits of Chaos: Jerry-Rigging a Life", poems by Donna Brua. The book is available for sale at my web site http://bitsofchaos.com/books.html

storm crazed in their spines,
gnarled fingers branch

rheumy eyes water,
their tears stain
their cheeks.
Once more we prime and paint
wood not seasoned well,
but amber sap still seeps through slits,
boards pull away remembering
how ice...
