"Photo Album" is one of 73 images I created for the book "Nailing Together Bits of Chaos: Jerry-Rigging a Life", poems by Donna Brua. The book is available for sale at my web site http://bitsofchaos.com/books.html
In the drawing the photo album is combined with mementos that appear in favorite snapshots now that their owners have gone or grown.

Photo Album
Grandma, Aunt Nean, Uncle Oren
lined up on the porch steps,
cousins, nieces, nephews,
blond, tousled, squinting into the sun,
Mom, regretting she still had her apron on,
Dad in his bolo tie,
my sister and I in cowboy hats,
eyes shaded, guns drawn,
my brother shooting baskets.
Not like the photographs in art galleries
of tornadoes whirling up houses,
a bloated child with flies on her eyes,
a charred forest black with stalactites,
a homeless drunk on a curb smoking butts.
These photos all were true
Here is a link to a video presentation of the first part of my poem "Artist's Bio" with reading and editing by my granddaughter, Amanda Matthews. Wasn't that nice of her. Just click on the title below.
