Halloween--full of frights and fun.
HALLOWEEN
Halloween, a night of bare black branches,
black night--familiar with wizards and ghosts,
every cloud across the moon a witch upon a broom.
Shadowed shapes in yellow streetlights clustered
are wee goblin hordes, more cute than ghoulish.
where piercing screams dance about with laughter,
covens of witches try piping cackles
as hoos and boos of ghosts drift through the air.
Jack-o-lantern lights bob in the dark
Illuminating mobs of cherub faces.
Narrow gloomy paths and creaky porch steps
Lead to dark-windowed houses, scarier
than would-be monsters dared to knock and run.
Tiny Tinkerbelle and tall Frankenstein
remember to hold hands while crossing streets.
Try one more door to trick or treat before
Halloweens witching hours end sharp at nine,
sending heroes and rogues of truth and tale
trudging toward home with frights of candy.

Cackle cackle. Thank you, Laurie.

Scary but effective!
Carol Jacobs replied:
Think of it as the Halloween alter ego of a much less scary girl. Thanks, Karen.
